Last month Brecon Town Council proudly presented the first ‘Best of Brecon’ Awards, highlighting nominated volunteers who are making a significant difference to Brecon, recognising the contribution they make to our local community. The Awards were organised in partnership with the local newspaper, The Brecon & Radnor Express and Brecon’s Volunteer Bureau.
Abbeyfield’s recently retired trustee, Alban Dunn won the Trustee Award for his outstanding work during the COVID-19 pandemic, securing funding through the National Lottery to enable the front entrance of Abbeyfield Brecon to be extended to allow residents to receive visitors in a suitably spacious, airy environment without the need for those visitors to enter the main part of the building.
Alban was quoted as saying, “We are very grateful to the lottery and I’m very grateful for this award, because its not just about me – it’s about the whole body of trustees, the staff and the wonderful manager at Abbeyfield.”
“This award is also about all the other charities in Brecon, who’s trustees work very hard – this is for them too.”
